Hello again! If you don’t already know, my name is Khang Nguyen, and I’m a passionate cybersecurity enthusiast with a strong background in IT and security operations. I have over two years of hands-on experience in the IT field and certifications from CompTIA in network and security, I’m driven by the goal of providing friendly support and making lives easier.

 

My Professional Journey

I started my career in IT as a Network Connectivity Support Technician at Digital Office Systems, where I developed a deep understanding of network configurations, troubleshooting, and customer support. I then transitioned to my current role as a Systems Analyst at DB Schenker, where I’ve been honing my skills in systems administration and IT operations.

 

Training and Certifications

To build a solid foundation, I earned the following certifications:

• THM SOC Level 1 Certification (October 2024)
• CompTIA Security+ Certification (July 2023)
• CompTIA Network+ Certification (June 2023)
• BCC Cyber Security Certificate (May 2021)

I’ve also completed dedicated SOC analyst training on TryHackMe, gaining hands-on experience with critical tools such as:

• SIEMs (Security Information and Event Management)
• Wireshark and Snort for network analysis
• Autopsy for digital forensics
• Zeek and OSquery for endpoint monitoring

I’ve recently begun exploring Splunk with Sysmon and incorporating it into my homelab setup, which hosts numerous virtual machines.

 

Homelab Enthusiast

My homelab is where I get to gain experience and test new skills. With a dedicated server using Proxmox, I run a variety of VMs to simulate and capture new techniques. I’ve also upgraded my home environment to a UniFi Network with proper rules and VLANs in place to keep things secure.

 

Personal Background

As a Vietnamese Asian American, I take pride in my cultural heritage and the diverse perspectives it brings to my life. In my free time, I enjoy working out and lifting weights. I also hold a 1st Dan black belt in Taekwondo from Kim’s Academy in Wichita, KS. Other than that, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going on road trips, and sightseeing. Recently, one of my favorite experiences was hiking up the Colorado mountains with my friends!
